Reggie McNeal said, “We as a church don't have a mission. The mission has a Church.” Amen brother!
In Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus is giving the disciples their marching orders. It says: 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Clearly, God wants us to GO & DO. Identifying where to go and what to do requires prayer, study and listening the the Holy Spirit as he speaks. Pastor Matt has done this. As a church-wide mission trip, Great Fork Baptist Church is going to GO to Nickelsville, VA and SERVE. The guiding scripture for this mission trip is Mark 10:45. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” In this we know that Jesus came to serve and he gave his life to redeem many. Therefore, on this trip our body of believers will serve as he did and we will share what Jeus has done for those we meet.
We will be serving alongside a team who is already in place and is doing great things to share Jesus' love and serve those in need. They are South West Virginia Partnership.
The 4 possible areas of ministry are: the elderly, children, the food bank and home repair/reconstruction/improvements.
